A Charming Vintage Inspired Secret Cabin in the Woods
It has been yeeeeeaaaars (YEARS) since I’ve had a week off from work. Like almost two decades worth of years. Which is nutty and a little embarrassing but that’s the life of a self employed small business owner who hasn’t learned proper life/work boundaries until, well, this past week. But I got cued into this secret cabin in the Big Bear, CA forest (in which an actual big bear hung around) from an Instagram tag and I thought, “Yeah this is the most darling design style and I need to go here.” And so I did. Ready for a peek? Let’s go…
This dining nook is where I spent the most time with my old blind dog curled up beside me, sun shining in. The hand painted mural was inspired by the illustrations of John Bauer and it transported me, as you can imagine. Fun fact: the window to the right was where I first saw the bear that took a liking to the yard; he came right up to the window! Wild.
The darling bedroom was cozy cozy, a little haven with the sweetest windows…
The floral tile bathroom was total eye candy. Bold design success…
More eye catching tile in the sweet kitchen. A bolt of green…
The mud room was perfectly moody and atmospheric…
And then this, the dreamy loft complete with a beautiful hand painted floral mural. Sigh…
The Hollyhock Cabin owners restored this 1940s cabin into a endearing haven, replete with all the pitch perfect creative accents and thoughtful touches. Do I now want vintage inspired wallpaper, sweet tile work, and hand painted murals in my own home? Yes. Yes, I do.
